Dr Nelson Kuo

Specialising in Cataract, Glaucoma, Eyelids and Tear Ducts

Dr Nelson Kuo is a specialist cataract, glaucoma, eyelids and tear duct surgeon. He also treats conditions affecting the macula such as age-related macular degeneration and diabetes.

Dr Kuo studied medicine at the University of New South Wales and completed his prevocational training at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney. Dr Kuo began his ophthalmology training at the Sydney Eye Hospital and spent two further fellowship years at the Concord Repatriation Hospital in Sydney and Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital in the United Kingdom, subspecializing in complex glaucoma and oculoplastics. He is a fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists.

Dr Kuo was appointed as a consultant eye surgeon at the Gold Coast University Hospital. He now provides glaucoma, oculoplastic and cataract service at the Mater Hospital and the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, supervising and training the next generation of ophthalmologists. Dr Kuo is multi-lingual (fluent in English and Mandarin) and has published many articles in peer-review journals, including the New England Journal of Medicine and the Lancet.
